On August 8, a new batch of 60 free and open source projects was selected for the NGI Zero Commons Fund.
We want to thank these project teams for working on the digital commons and contributing to open, secure and trustworthy digital infrastructure for all.
This brings the total of grantees within the programme to 494 projects. There are still two more calls currently under evaluation for the program.

On 15 December, DG Connect is organising its third workshop on the EU eGovernment Action Plan 2016-2020 at the EC premises in Brussels. At this meeting, the stakeholder engagement platform based on Futurium will be presented in a hands-on session, demonstrating its functionalities and allowing participants to provide feedback.

On November 16, the European Commission launched the European Data Portal, which will serve as a central gateway to data published by administrations in countries across Europe, from the EU and beyond. Currently over 240,000 datasets from 34 European countries can be accessed through thirteen different categories and a multi-language search function.

In June, two seminars on the implementation of the European 'Directive 2003/98/EC on the Re-use of Public Sector Information' (i.e. the PSI Directive) will be organised in the Netherlands. This Directive was revised in June 2013 and the amendments should be transposed into national law before July. The seminars are open to anyone working for the Dutch government who has to deal with the PSI Directive and wants to know more about its implementation.

The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has established an award for innovative open data applications. The Stuiveling Open Data Award, which is named after Saskia Stuiveling, the outgoing President of the Dutch National Audit Office (Court of Audit), was announced by Rutte at her final symposium 'The art of open data' last month.

Last week, the Dutch Minister of the Interior, Ronald Plasterk sent the government's National Open Data Agenda (NODA) in a letter to the Dutch parliament. The agenda aims to make as many high-value datasets as possible available for re-use. It will provide tools to keep track of progress and quality, and support for data managers in opening up their datasets.
